Do it sad, do it happy, do it tired...

Just do it.

Here’s a thought that’s been pinned to my desktop for a while

I’ve always admired the type of people who don’t just talk about their goals but consistently make them happen.

But, as you know, so much of life isn’t glamorous. Sometimes, it’s downright boring.

So, how do we get through the mundane parts?

For me, it’s the small, unglamorous actions that slowly became cornerstones:

🏋️ Lifting Weights and Running

✍️ Writing

And, I’ll be honest—these things didn’t feel rewarding at first.

For over a year, workouts were all about showing up with no obvious results, and let’s just say I wouldn’t exactly want to reread my early writing.

But eventually, all that effort paid off.

Today, I’m the leanest, strongest, and fastest I’ve ever been (which is wild, considering I was never the athletic kid growing up).

For over six months, I tried to hit a 176lb deadlift, and finally, I managed a single rep. The feeling was unreal—but honestly, what matters now is repping that 176 consistently.

note to self from Sept 2024

The act of showing up became a habit, even on the days when I didn’t feel like it.

These days, I think of it as a mindset shift:

• Showing up for myself every day

• Showing up for workouts, work, or the people I care about

• And yes, showing up when I don’t exactly feel like it

And the truth is, the more I showed up, the more I saw things change.

The One-Day-at-a-Time Approach

If you’re looking to build that mindset, it’s all about taking it one day at a time. Show up today, and show up tomorrow. Miss a day? No problem. Just don’t miss two.

Missing two days in a row makes it all too easy to brush off the third.

And if someone asks me, “How do you live such a boring life?”

While I don’t find it boring yet, my only possible answer is…

when you love it and when you know you’ve got to do it. you tell yourself this:

Do it sad, do it angry, do it heartbroken, do it miserable, do it excited, do it energized, do it happy, do it tired, do it confident, do it discouraged,

do it anyway.

However you got to get it done, make sure it gets done.

That’s what separates the winners from the losers. That’s what separates those that get what they want, from those that only talk about what they want.

So, whatever you got to do, get it done.

fuck your mood. follow the plan.

What I am currently watching:

Arnold on Netflix.

This one has become a go-to for me. Arnold’s journey is a mix of sacrifices and unstoppable drive, and it reminds me of what’s possible when you commit to something fully.

Sometimes, consistency doesn’t look exciting, but it’s what builds the life you want.

My favorite quote is - a crisis is the worst time to waste.

That’s all for today!

keep slaying, and see you next Tuesday.
