Everything I Wanted was One Email Away
How cold emails changed my life.
You’re just one email away from the life you want.
If that’s not already a quote, I’ll gladly claim it. :)
Emails have been pivotal in my journey—connecting dots, opening doors, and setting things in motion.
Two years ago, around this time, I found myself deep in thought: “What do you really want to do in life?”
It became clear—content was my calling.
I loved creating resourceful, impactful content, so I made a list of people I admired and reached out daily. Each email was simple:
a. I love what you’re building.
b. I’d love to help you create content.

At first, nothing happened.

But over time, persistence paid off.
When I hear someone say cold emails don’t work, I think: you just haven’t done it right yet. For me, cold emails have been the bridge—not only for landing opportunities but also for reaching out to people I admire, like Steph Smith, whose journey I’ve followed for quite some time now.
Whether it’s connecting over shared interests or simply appreciating people’s work, a genuine email can be life-changing.

some screenshots from the cold emails I sent to people I admire.
but here are a few things I keep in mind:
Make it quick
Be clear on why you emailed them (whether it is a question, feedback, idea, or a pitch)
Goes without saying, but make it personal. Nobody wants to receive an email that was sent to 100 other people.
It might not work sometimes, but the upside of working out is a no-match. there is no downside.
Crazy to me how it can be life-changing.

Resource:
Here’s the Tim Ferriss template to nail your cold emails:
Paragraph #1: “I know you are very busy and get a lot of emails so this will only take 60 seconds.”
Paragraph #2: 1 or 2 sentences about who you are and how that’s relevant to the person you’re contacting.
Paragraph #3: 1 or 2 sentences with a specific question the recipient can answer quickly.
Paragraph #4: “I totally understand if you’re too busy to reply. Even a 1-2 line response will make my day.”
What I am currently reading:
Nothing specific this week, but I’ve been diving into books from the ‘80s and ‘90s.
I love how foundational they are even today.
The way I now read books is by taking what resonates and leaving the rest. As Naval says:
“A blog might have 300 posts on it, and you could read just the two, three, or five that you need right now. I think you can think of a book the same way.” - Naval
I used to feel guilty about not finishing books, but now I skim for what matters most to me at the moment. No pressure to “finish”—just the freedom to learn at my own pace.
that’s all for this week.
See ya next Tuesday!
